OMA participated in the IDE2020 (Industry Digital Evolution Conference https://idenetwork.it) with a speech on the introduction of Additive Manufacturing and Virtual Reality in the overall manufacturing life-cycle. Simona Turco (OMA R&D Manager) presented OMA’s research activities showing how the introduction of AM and VR provide benefits in terms of efficiency and quality, leading to cost-savings, supporting improvements and sustainable implementation of the relevant life-cycle processes. The Additive manufacturing use case presented is the result of an ongoing collaboration with INFN Gran Sasso (https://hammer.lngs.infn.it/) on a dedicated R&D project. PLM, implemented in OMA with the adoption of Dassault Systeme 3D Experience since 2018, is the key enabler for an effective AM and VR introduction based on very accurate 3D models and on a collaborative digital environment, where life cycle data are available and accessible to the product stakeholders (people, SW and HW in the processes).
